Many times in life we have certain dysfunctions concerning a variety of issues: our health, troubled minds, out of control emotions, lack of finances, stinking thinking, etc... Over time people begin to accept those disorders and instead of removing them, they begin to accept them and then make excuses for why they allow those disorders to linger. My experience is that people will begin to blame others for why their life is in the condition that it is: the Blame Game. John 5 is a perfect example of a man who did this. He had a "Lingering Disorder" that he "suffered" with for 38 YEARS!!! When Jesus asks the man if he wants to be well, the man begins to share with Jesus the excuse that he has been rehearsing for 38 years regarding his disorders: "I HAVE NOBODY". What he was saying was that he had been in that same miserable condition, suffering for 38 years, all because nobody would help him: re-positioning the blame. Jesus then heals the man and then Jesus disappeared. Later Jesus finds the man in the temple and it is here where we discover why he had this lingering disorder and who & what was to blame:
"Afterward, when Jesus found him in the temple, He said to him, See, YOU are well! STOP SINNING or something worse may happen to YOU." (John 5:14 AMP)
The man had been reaping the wages for 38 years of sinning: death(Romans 6:23). But he was blaming others for his consequences!!! This is classic. So many people suffer at the hands of their own willingness to keep sinning but they want to blame their parents, society, the preacher, the church, etc... for it all. STOP IT NOW!!!! Take ownership for what you have done to your own life and realize that the choice to change everything for the better is going to be found when you are honest with yourself and the Lord, about who is responsible for the mess. If you can swallow that truth get ready for freedom & deliverance to invade every area of your life. It's going to be a new day, a new life for you to live and enjoy!!!!
"Now there is in Jerusalem a pool near the Sheep Gate. This pool in the Hebrew is called Bethesda, having five porches (alcoves, colonnades, doorways). In these lay a great number of sick folk–some blind, some crippled, and some paralyzed (shriveled up)– waiting for the bubbling up of the water. For an angel of the Lord went down at appointed seasons into the pool and moved and stirred up the water; whoever then first, after the stirring up of the water, stepped in was cured of whatever disease with which he was afflicted. There was a certain man there who had SUFFERED with a DEEP-SEATED and LINGERING DISORDER for 38 YEARS. When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?] The invalid answered, Sir, II HAVE NOBODY when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me. Jesus said to him, Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping pad) and walk! Instantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his bed and walked. But that happened on the Sabbath."
